"Malerie Marder specializes in the tricky photographic terrain where sociology and slumming and intimacy and voyeurism meet and overlap. The 30 unframed color prints installed salon-style in this intriguing and morally unsettling show portray women, mostly nude or nearly so. They pose in nondescript, vaguely tacky rooms, usually on beds. Appearing singly and in couples and groups, they are old, young, thin, corpulent, black, white. Some are attractive by conventional standards, some not." NYT
