Sixty Minutes = sixty artists and sixty seconds of video
Organized by Courtney Childress, Sixty Minutes offers works by sixty artists. Childress asked each artist to supply one minute of stationary video of a two dimensional work. Although given straightforward instructions on shooting (iPhone video, horizontal view and the best lighting possible) each video is unique, thoughtfully created and provides a private glimpse into the artist's studio environment. The list of artists grew organically as the project gained momentum, many of the artists included are schoolmates or mentors or students of the other artists in the show. A community built out of these widening circles, this group of artists span generations and media. These artists are all "painters" in the broadest sense of the word.Painting is a medium that still begs for prolonged looking.
