Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
The estimable Orchestra New England presents its annual "Concert of Mufick" in the style of the time of the Revolutionary War.
This is the 36th year of a tradition that brings alive the music of Handel, Haydn, Mozart, and other composers popular in the late 18th century.
Maestro James Sinclair will lead a performance of Haydn's great Symphony No. 92 in G Major. The spectacular Polish bass-baritone Pawel Konik will sing arias by Mozart and Handel. Wesley Hall will command the mighty organ in a work by Johann Sebastian Bach, and Gary Chapman will solo on fortepiano in a movement from a Mozart piano concerto.
The 2nd Company Governor's Foot Guard opens the festivities, and the orchestra and soloists will be attired fully in 18th-century finery. With the church festooned for Christmas and lit in candlelight, this is a New Haven tradition not to be missed!
