Get Down with Upcycling. Learn to literally knit the shirt off your back!
This class will cover the basics of knitting, deconstructing a garment, turning it into yarn, and knitting a scarf. This is an excellent way to get use out of garments that you no longer wear but still love or that have sentimental value. Bring a large piece of clothing or two (e.g. long skirt, dress, long sleeve shirt) or a few yards of fabric that you're ready to cut up and take home a scarf.
Join us at 101 Threads Art Gallery (118 Court Street, New Haven, metered on street parking) on January 29th from 6-8pm. Your instructor Jessica Pollard, who has been obsessed with knitting for a decade, will provide homemade goodies, laughs, and a low pressure learning environment, especially since it’s BYOB! Class fee of $20 includes all materials needed (knitting needles and fabric if you don't want to bring a garment to use or want to work a practice sample), food, and all the instructions you’ll need to make a funky scarf.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions and email to reserve your spot in advance so that we make sure to have enough materials and goodies.
